Wednesday, March 30, 2011 Senator Bob Deuell (R - Greenville), Representative Walter “Four” Price (R - Amarillo) and Representative Barbara Mallory Caraway (D- Dallas) joined their co-authors of the bill as well as medical experts, professional athletes, student athletes and representatives of the NFL to host a press conference addressing the growing problem of traumatic brain injuries among student athletes. Senate Bill 835 and House Bill 2038 establish a clear and comprehensive return-to-play protocol for public schools and charter schools in order to safeguard not only students but also coaches and school districts. HB 2038 is currently awaiting approval in the Senate.
